During the refining process, we process pre-tanned leather as far as a semi-finished product, suitable for the leather processing industries.

The customer will have specified in the form of an order what thickness, colour and suppleness the leather must have. All of these standards are determined during the production process.

The leather is sorted by thickness, shaved and trimmed. The leather is fully dyed in tanning drums and obtains all the characteristics that are required for the semi-finished product. This is done by finishing it with specially developed re-tanning recipes, which differ for each end product.

After this the leather is dried. Depending on the end product, this may be done by machine or by air. If required, the leather is finished. Other processes, such as milling, staking or buffing, for example, are carried out according to requirement.

At our warehouse, the leather is once again inspected for thickness, colour and grade. When everything has been approved, the surface of the leather is electronically measured and the order is prepared for shipping. The customer can specify whether the leather has to be shipped flat or on rolls.

From this point, the semi-finished product is ready to become a beautiful leather end product.
